BOTPC-Final Blog
For our last blog on Boy of the Painted Cave, pretend that a movie producer is considering making a movie of the BOTPC novel and/or a sequel to the novel and that he/she has asked you, as an up and coming playwrite to do one of the following:
1.Describe/summarize your ideas for an alternate/different ending to the novel.
OR
2.Describe/summarize your ideas for a sequel to the novel.
Please write your response in a Word document first and then copy/paste it into the response box.Feel free to comment on other student’s ideas. Chapters 13-18 Questions due by 10/17 8:00 a.m.
After you have read Chapters 13-18 in Boy of the Painted Cave, respond to 1 question from Questions 1-4 below. You must also respond to Question 5. You are responding to a total of 2 questions. Please write in complete sentences that show thoughtful consideration of the book. Be sure to answer all parts of each question you choose to do.
1. Why did Tao let Ram go into the herd of deer? Explain why this was a huge risk for Tao as well as for Ram. Was his decision to let Ram go a good one? Explain. Describe a situation where you took a risk. How did you feel before and after?
2. What did the mountain people do to Ram? Explain how Tao gets Ram back. Graybeard then tells Tao, “If you trust me and do as I say, there will be no danger.” (p.128) Why does Graybeard say this to Tao? Describe a dangerous situation when you had to trust someone. How did you feel before and after the danger?
3. What did Graybeard give to Tao and tell him to do? Why is Tao afraid to enter the secret cave? How/why do you think Tao is able to overcome his fear? What does he do once he enters the cave?
4. Why is Tao hopeful as he remains tied up? Why won’t Tao try to escape as Kala tries to free him? What would you do if you were Tao, stay or try to escape? Explain your answer.
5. “… he saw Volt jump down from the rimrock, shouting and waving his arms.” (p. 149) In your opinion, why does Volt do this? How does Tao come to the conclusion about his father’s identity? How would you feel if you were Tao and discovered that this man was your father?

Chapters 9-12-Letter to Tao-due 10/16 8:00 a.m.
After you have read Chapters 11-12 in Boy of the Painted Cave respond to the prompt below.
With Graybeard’s guidance, and after much effort, Tao experiences success with and joy in his cave painting. Write a brief letter (friendly letter form) to Tao about his efforts at cave painting. Sign your letter with the name of the person you have chosen to be.
In this letter you will choose to be one of the following people/ groups:
1. Kala
2. Graybeard
3. Volt
4. The Tribe
If you choose to write from the perspective of Volt or from the perspective of the tribe you should pretend that he/they has/have discovered that Tao is secretly painting.
Remember to write in complete sentences and proofread your writing before you submit your letter to the blog. Be sure to use your first name only when you post your comment.
